30 Days of Gratitude - Day 28

I am grateful for prayer.  The kids and I take turns saying our night time prayers and I really do think it helps them to think of others and also the calmness that prayer brings.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 26

I am grateful for our chickens and ducks.  We have had them for a little over 3 years and have had lost a few and gained a few.  It is fun watching these little creatures walk around, scratch at the dirt, run from the rooster, and cluck at each other.  Oh and I can't forget the fresh eggs we gather each day :)

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 24

I am grateful for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Not because of the pilgrims, but because of family.  I am so thankful for the memories of Thanksgiving past and new memories that are made each year.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 22

I am grateful for the beautiful sunsets we have.  There are times when I miss them because I am too busy to notice.  And then there are those by-chance times that I am able to sit back and enjoy them.  The following picture is from a few years ago.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 21

I am grateful that we are able to homeschool our children.  Has it been easy?  No.  Have there been struggles?  Yes.  Is it rewarding?  Yes.  Am I glad that my husband and I decided to homeschool?  Yes.  Also, the kids love it :)

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 20

I am grateful for those rare moments of quiet.  It doesn't happen very often, but when they do I like to sit still and soak in the peaceful quietness around me.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 19

I am grateful for long distance phone calls.  This is the best way to keep in contact with my family.  We do email on occasion, but actually talking to each other is is much better :)

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 18

I am grateful to be able to spend one-on-one quality time with my children.  I enjoy listening to what is on their minds and having conversations without interruptions. My daughter and I usually do the errands while my son stays home with dad.  Today, my son came with me to do errands while my daughter stayed home with dad. It was a good day for everyone :)

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 17

I am grateful for my co-workers.  They can make a dull day bright and a dreary day fun.  Working for a municipality is not always fun and it can get a bit overwhelming at times, especially this time of year.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 16

I am grateful for the Ensign magazine.  It is a magazine that is put out by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  This is the only magazine that I read from cover to cover.  The messages are uplifting and I learn so much from them.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 15

I am grateful for first responders (Police, Fire, EMT, etc) who put their lives on the line for us each day.

(I found out this morning that the high school I attended had a stabbing.  The first responders were at the school within minutes and were able to get control over the situation in a brief amount of time.  Unfortunately there are 5 victims but none of them were seriously injured. They are all in my prayers.)

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 14

I am grateful for my great-uncle Alan and Uncle Evan for sparking my interest in genealogy and family history.  It is so much fun to find out where my ancestors are from and to learn about them via journals and historical facts.  In fact, just last week I found out that my husband's best friend and I are distant cousins!!!  Our common ancestor was hung in the gallows for witch craft during the Salem Witch trials.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 13

I am grateful for having religious freedom that is protected by our 1st Amendment.

On a side note, Sam and I went to church today and I have to say that I really enjoyed the third talk during Sacrament Meeting.  The talk was about gratitude and I will try to summarize what I took from it:
The following three questions were asked:
Are you grateful?
Are you happy?
Are you serving?

As you develop gratitude, the happier you'll be.  Express happiness by focusing on the positive.  When we are happy, we want to share.

Remember...The adversary likes to show us what gratitude is not and that would be envy, entitlement, and greed.

Have a blessed Sunday.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 12

I am grateful for the friendly people that live in our surrounding towns.  It is a nice feeling when people at the bank and the small country stores greet you by name and ask how things are going.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 7

I am grateful for living in an area where our family can see wild animals in our backyard...even the ones that get our chickens)

Just a side note...I don't have any pictures of the wild animals that have taken our chickens, but I can tell you that the culprits were coyotes, foxes and a bobcat.
