Colorful Drive

As I was driving to a nearby town to do some errands during my lunch break, I couldn't help but notice how colorful the drive was.  If only I had a camera with me.  The bright reds, dark reds, brilliant oranges and soft yellows were breathtaking among the pine trees.  It's not peak season yet, but I'll take what I can get. Supposedly there is supposed to be a lot of rain in the next few days...I just hope that the remaining unchanged leaves don't get blown away.
I love this time of year :)

It's been a while since a moose was in our yard.  This picture was taken a couple of years ago.

Scripture Sunday

Sam and I went to church today.  Sam was a bit nervous as this was her first time to go to Young Women's.  She had a great time.  This is one of the scriptures referenced today:

"Truly my soul waiteth upon God; from him cometh my salvation.  He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved." ~ Psalm 62:1-2

Scripture Sunday on Monday...again

Yesterday was the Primary Program during Sacrament meeting.  This was Sam's last year to be in the program.  Next week Sam will be starting Young Women's and she is a bit nervous and excited at the same time.
I didn't go to Sunday School (2nd hour), but I did go to Relief Society (3rd hour).  In RS the topic of discussion was about family.  We also reviewed the Family Proclamation during the discussion.
I don't have a scripture from church to share, but I do have one from my scripture reading that I did during the 2nd hour:

"Therefore, whosoever repenteth, and hardeneth not his heart, he shall have claim on mercy through mine Only Begotten Son, unto a remission of his sins; and these shall enter into my rest." ~ Alma 12:34

Scripture Sunday...on Tuesday

Obviously I am not paying attention to the days.  I didn't even realize that I missed my scripture post...again.  Well, better late than never, right?

Here is a scripture from my reading tonight:

"I say unto you, can you imagine to yourselves that ye hear the voice of the Lord, saying unto you, in that day:  Come unto me ye blessed, for behold, your works have been the works of righteousness upon the face of the earth?" ~ Alma 5:16

Bright Pink - Pink - Almost Gone

Yesterday, while I was at work, my kids decided to make slime and dye it certain colors. The kids had fun making the slime and probably didn't realize that they were doing science experiments at the same time.  What they didn't realize was that the food coloring (red) stained their hands.  Getting messy and making mistakes is what learning is all about!!! (at least that is what Ms. Frizzle says :) ).

Last night, after dinner, I got on the computer and looked up ways to remove red dye off of skin.  There were several different concoctions mentioned and yes, I did try most of them.  The kids and I tried vinegar (not the apple cider one), baking soda paste (baking soda mixed with a little bit of water), vinegar and baking soda mixed together, and finally dishwasher detergent with a little bit of water (the dishwasher detergent has to be the dry detergent).  After some experimenting, the kids and I found that the dishwasher detergent scrub was the best.  Are their hands still bright pink? No.  Are their hands still pink?  Yes, but the color is fading to almost gone.

Like I told my kids, we live and learn.  Making mistakes helps us to grow with knowledge and helps us to remember to wear food handling gloves when dye's are being used :)

Scripture Sunday (on Monday...again)

Yesterday was a pretty good day in church.  It was Fast and Testimony Sunday and although I didn't fast, the service was very good.  Below is a scripture from my reading:

"Pray unto the Lord, call upon his holy name, make known his wonderful works among the people." ~ D&C 65:4
