Family History

Have you ever heard of Captain Miles Standish, John Alden and Priscilla Mullins? I am sure you have if you studied the Pilgrims and The Mayflower.   I bet you didn't know that Captain Miles Standish was smitten with Ms. Mullins.  He wanted to talk to Ms. Mullins, but was a bit shy.  Because of this shyness, Miles asked his good friend John Alden to speak to Priscilla for him.  Well, Priscilla thought John was using Miles as an excuse and basically said, "John, why don't you speak for yourself".  John ended up courting and marrying Priscilla and Miles learned that if he wanted something, he had to 'speak for himself'.

If it wasn't for Miles Standish, John and Priscilla would not have married and my husband would not have been a direct descendant.  I knew from genealogy research about the family lineage and had always thought that John and Priscilla were married before coming over on The Mayflower.   Apparently they met after landing in Plymouth.  I love learning the stories behind the research.

And there is more family history to tell in another post :)
