Wrap-up Week 8

Wow...8 weeks of school this year have come and gone.  Seems like yesterday we started our new year.
This weeks wrap up consisted of:

MATH:  Both Nick and Sam worked on their perspective lessons...addition, subtraction, before and after (Sam), measuring in inches, multiplication (Nick), shapes

COPY WORK: Nick seems to be slacking in the neat department.  Sam did not do any copy work this week. I am seriously thinking about purchasing the StartWrite software. I believe that is name of it...not sure.  Anyway, I have heard a lot of good things about it and I will be able to generate the sentences/words for the kids to copy. Another positive...I can use this every year!

READING:  The kids finished up the goals for the Canaan Library Summer Reading Program.  They will be celebrating tomorrow at an ice-cream party.  Both kids are looking forward to this!!

LANGUAGE ARTS THROUGH LITERATURE:  Lesson 6 - Literature Links.  I read them the story 'Tilda The Troublemaker'.  After reading, the kids had to answer a few questions about the story and they also learned a little bit about horses.  The final assignment in the lesson was to take their answers about describing a horse and turn it into a paragraph.  They did alright and I really didn't push the lessons too much.  We should be back on track next week with Lesson 7.

DELIGHT DIRECTED:  If you read my earlier post about the kids breaking the television, you will know that they had no movie time during the day.  They really put their imagination to work.  They played with legos' and created several Star Trek Ships, made a space suit out of construction paper, made a rocket ship with blankets and misc toys, painted, made princess crowns, etc.

HELPING OUT:  We had a pretty good rainstorm on Tuesday and water started to come into the house.  We are currently building our upper floor and we had to get all of the big puddles off the top floor to stop it from leaking into our living space.  It took us about 2 1/2 hour.  The kids helped in a very good way and we couldn't have done it without them!!!
